
Biography
Shawn Skyring is a Principal Lawyer and leads Coleman Greig’s Employment Law Team.
His specialist expertise is set across a broad range of industries, with in-depth knowledge and experience in local government, the transport industry, hospitality, recreation, waste collection and recycling, cemeteries and crematoria, to name a few.
With over 28 years’ experience in workplace matters, industrial relations and employment law, he brings a complementary depth and breadth of expertise to the team.
Through his successful representation on all industrial tribunals including the Federal Court, Federal Circuit Court, the Supreme Court of NSW, the Fair Work Commission and the Industrial Relations Commission of NSW, Shawn has developed a comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by those operating within today’s employment landscape.
Shawn has been an active supporter of The Animal Welfare League of NSW, and as a former director he was able to assist the organisation in strategic decision making with respect to the welfare and protection of companion animals.

Shawn Skyring is a Principal Lawyer and leads Coleman Greig’s Employment Law team. With over 28 years’ experience in workplace matters, industrial relations and employment law, he brings a complementary depth and breadth of expertise to the team.
His specialist expertise is set across a broad range of industries, with in-depth knowledge and experience in local government, the transport industry, hospitality, recreation, waste collection and recycling, cemeteries and crematoria, to name a few.
With extensive experience in private legal practice, as well as working with a peak employer organisation for a number of years, Shawn’s clients benefit from his broad industry knowledge and his valuable advice. This allows Shawn to take a practical approach when resolving complex and sensitive employment related issues. One of his strengths is creating and implementing effective strategies to enable his clients to achieve their objectives in a timely and effective manner.
Shawn frequently assists clients in the negotiation, variation and termination of enterprise agreements, award interpretation, drafting and negotiating contracts of employment, representation in workplace and employment litigation including interlocutory proceedings and appearing for clients in dispute proceedings in the Fair Work Commission and the Industrial Relations Commission of NSW.

Away from work, Shawn’s passions are spending quality time with family and friends over some good food and red wine. He also loves hitting the slopes for a ski.
