At Coleman Greig we value the differences between people and the contribution these differences make to our business. As a firm we will actively manage diversity, finding ways of utilising the differences that exist, in order to improve our business. We actively and flexibly seek to accommodate the unique needs of many different employees. We understand that diversity also encompasses the ways people differ in terms of their educational background, life and working experiences, carer responsibilities, socio-economic background and geographical location.

Coleman Greig is committed to ensuring that all employees are treated with respect and dignity. Our Diversity and Inclusion statement outlines our commitment and holds us accountable to our employees and other stakeholders. 

Gender Equality

We believe in equitable pay and have implemented various initiatives and policies to ensure fairness and transparency for all. This includes not asking for existing salaries when recruiting to ensure there is no past bias (gender or otherwise) in remuneration brought into our firm.

The firm conducts annual pay reviews to ensure all staff, at a career level are remunerated within a market linked pay band and gender differences between the top and bottom of each band are closely monitored. The firm’s Paid parental leave scheme is gender neutral, and salary increases are made before and during parental leave, ensuring female employees do not fall outside these bands whilst on leave. 

Despite not being required to, we also proudly took part in the 2020 Workplace Gender Equality Agency’s Gender Pay Gap Analysis and were compliant.

Initiatives include a commitment to Equal Employment Opportunity; a zero-tolerance approach to behaviour of a discriminatory nature, bullying and harassment; establishment of the Women in Business Forum in 2007 to promote professional development for women, a Family and Domestic Violence Leave Policy, a Carers at Work initiative, and becoming the first law firm in Australia to achieve White Ribbon Workplace Accreditation.

Legal Cadetship Program​

Each year Coleman Greig offers law students a remarkable opportunity to mix their university studies with quality work experience.

The Coleman Greig Cadetship Program has been operating for the last 20 years and is open to all full-time, first year law students.

The five-year program provides a real opportunity to experience the legal environment firsthand, build relationships with staff and clients. Our cadets complete rotations with the various teams, providing them with well-rounded experience
