Biography
Karin Adcock is the President of PANDORA Jewelry PTY Ltd Australia and New Zealand, which is the Subsidiary of PANDORA Copenhagen.
PANDORA is a designer, manufacturer, marketer and distributor of hand finished and modern jewellery made from genuine materials. These are primarily sterling silver, gold, precious and semi‐precious stones and Murano glass. As of 2011, PANDORA was sold in 57 countries on six continents through approximately 10,000 points of sale. This included over 400 PANDORA branded concept stores.
Collectible charm bracelets made from sterling silver and gold and charms are featured in the Moments Collection. These constitute PANDORA’s core product offering. PANDORA also offers jewellery, such as rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings, through our Moments, Stories, Compose, LovePods and Liquid Silver Collections.
PANDORA was founded in 1982 in Copenhagen, Denmark. Today, it employs over 4,500 people worldwide – more than 3,300 of whom are located in Gemopolis, Thailand, where PANDORA manufactures its jewellery.
The company was listed on NASDAQ Copenhagen in October 2010.
PANDORA in Australia was launched from a garage in Avalon in 2004. Through hard work and determination, and despite setbacks and rejections along the way, 40 Australian retailers stocked PANDORA the first year.
In 2006 the office was moved to Mona Vale and eventually to larger premises in Warriewood in 2007.
Karin Adcock has steered PANDORA through a period of intense growth – turnover quadrupled in the company’s second year. It has achieved a strong growth ever since. The company is now one of the biggest employers on the Northern Beaches with over 300 employees. More than 500 retailers stock PANDORA across Australia and New Zealand.
With strategic and well-placed marketing, Karin and her team have grown brand awareness of PANDORA. From zero in 2004, brand awareness of 89% was achieved in 2011. PANDORA is now one of the most recognised jewellery brands in the region and the third biggest in the world.
In recent years, PANDORA opened Flagship stores in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Gold Coast and Sydney Airport. It has developed a Franchise network with stores across Australia.
In 2009 Karin and Brook Adcock received the Diploma of the Danish Export Association and His Royal Highness Prince Henrik’s Medal of Honour. The Medal was awarded in honour of the team’s outstanding success in developing sales and brand awareness of the Danish-owned Brand PANDORA in Australia and New Zealand.
In 2010 Karin Adcock was awarded the winner of the Telstra Business Women’s Awards for New South Wales.
