Coleman Greig Recognised for Achievements in Advancing Women in Law

Coleman Greig is excited to announce that the firm has won a prestigious industry award for its work advancing women in the legal profession.

Coleman Greig was announced as Outstanding Law Firm of the Year at the Women Lawyers Association of NSW Awards on Friday 23 August, 2019. Up against a strong field of contenders including a range of top tier national and international law firms, it was gratifying to see a Western Sydney focussed firm take out the award.

Caroline Hutchinson, Principal Director, Chair of the Coleman Greig Board and head of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution team said that “Our ongoing effort to advance women continues to strengthen our firm and has produced our current gender equity results. These results demonstrate strong female representation and support across our senior leadership positions, including half of our management team and two-thirds of our Senior Associates and Associates being comprised of women.”

Warrick McLean, CEO, described consistent efforts that the firm has made across a wide range of areas including “the removal of gender wage gaps, setting specific targets for women in partnership and senior leadership positions, and the ongoing promotion of both internal and external mentorship opportunities.”

Elicha Reitsma, People and Capability Manager, said that the firm provides flexible working arrangements and prides itself on being the first law firm in Australia to receive White Ribbon Workplace Accreditation.

Externally, the firm coordinates Women in Business, Western Sydney’s largest networking forum, to help professional women and senior female executives connect with each other over issues of importance to them. Women in Business raised more than $6,000 at its recent August event with Natasha Stott Despoja for the prevention of violence against women. Coleman Greig is also a premier partner of Victress Connection, a professional development group co-founded by Principal Lawyer, Emma Macfarlane, for women in the Macarthur region.

Greater Western Sydney’s leading law firm, Coleman Greig has offices in Parramatta, Penrith, Norwest and Campbelltown-Macarthur.

Coleman Greig would like to commend all award category winners and finalists on their efforts in this space.
