Biography

Saveen Mathews is a Lawyer in Coleman Greig’s Tax and Superannuation team.

Saveen is experienced in taxation of private business structures including Capital Gains Tax (CGT), Goods and Services Tax (GST), and superannuation and SMSF. He is also well-versed in taxation disputes, regularly handling matters in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal relating to economic stimulus, CGT, GST, foreign income tax offset, income tax and debt litigation.

His clients include high wealth individuals, small to medium businesses, large corporations, and subsidiaries of multinational corporations.

Open-minded and forward thinking, Saveen is proactive in anticipating his clients’ needs.

Prior to joining Coleman Greig, Saveen worked for the Australian Taxation Office.

  • Tax disputes relating to the claim of GST input tax credits, economic stimulus matters, capital gains tax, income tax, Superannuation and SMSF and debt litigation.
  • Represented the Commissioner of Taxation in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal in the Taxation & Commercial Division and the Small Business Taxation Division.
  • Represented the Deputy Commissioner of Taxation in Debt litigation matters in the Supreme Court of NSW relating to the set aside of a statutory demand and a defended debt matter.
  • Advised internal teams within the ATO on a matter that related to the taxation of foreign trusts.
  • Advised internal teams within the ATO on a matter that related to CGT Small Business Concessions.
