Chris Bath

Biography

Chris Bath was born and raised in Sydney’s west, growing up in South Wentworthville. She has been working as a journalist and news reporter/anchor since 1988.

Chris is the anchor of Seven’s top-rating 6pm news bulletin on weeknights in Sydney. A journalist with 21 years experience, she also reports for and co-hosts the flagship program in Channel Seven’s news and public affairs line-up, Sunday Night.

After graduating from Charles Sturt University in 1988, Chris began as a cadet reporter and newsreader at Sydney’s Radio 2UE. She stayed at 2UE for over a year before moving to Prime in Albury, where she worked as a reporter and presenter.

In 1991, NBN Television in Newcastle approached Chris Bath to anchor its evening news. This made her one of Australia’s youngest presenters on metropolitan television. Chris remained at NBN for five years before joining Seven News in Sydney in 1996.

Sunrise was the first of Chris’s many national news reading positions at Seven. In 1997, she was juggling dual roles as Sunrise anchor and host of 11AM, before being promoted to Seven’s Late News.

In 1998, Chris joined the team at Witness, travelling around the world as one of its correspondents. After taking a well-earned break in Italy, Chris returned to Late News in January 1999. The following year, Chris was part of Seven’s host team for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. She co-hosted the prelude to the Opening Ceremony live on stage at the Olympic stadium, while seven months pregnant with her first child, Darcy.

Chris Bath also appeared in series 3 of Seven’s “Dancing With The Stars” with dancing partner Trenton “Trenno” Shipley. The pair won second place overall. She is married to Jim Wilson, sports presenter for the Seven News.
