The 4-yearly review of modern awards started in 2014, and has been a tortuous process which is nearly, but not quite, finished. Changes to existing terms and standardisation of terms across modern awards mean that all employers (even employers paying above award) need to be alert to, and compliant with, new rules and minimum conditions.
So now is a good time for organisations to understand the changes which have come out of the review, and what is also still on the table to look out for. Stephen Booth, head of Coleman Greig’s Employment Law team will cover issues including:
- domestic violence leave
- cashing out leave
- directions to take leave
- penalty rates
- abandonment of employment and
- the plain language project.
Enterprise bargaining is also currently topical, because of wage stagnation, and political debate about revitalising bargaining. So it is timely for a refresher from our employment law expert, Dominic Russell on the pros and cons of bargaining for an enterprise agreement, and some of the common pitfalls in the process.
There’s never been a better time to catch up on the fundamentals, and be ahead of the game.
